Instructions for installing the PSIRT JRE from IBM Fix Central. NOTE: BEFORE UPGRADING TO THE NEW JRE, MAKE SURE THE CONTROL CENTER ENGINE AND ALL ITS DEPENDENT PROCESSES ARE DOWN. SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE BEFORE PROCEEDING. 1. Uncompress the JRE refresh pack archive file 2. Change directory to . You will see an existing directory named jre. Rename the existing jre directory to jre_old. 3. Extract the files from the iFix archive file. For example: tar xvf {fully qualified reference to the iFix archive file} 4. If a jre folder already exists in the extracted archive, copy the entire jre folder over to 5. If a jre folder is not part of the extracted archive, then create a new directory called jre and copy the bin, lib, plugin, docs and properties folders to the newly created jre folder. 6. Verify the version of java by running ./java (UNIX) or java.exe (Windows) from the jre directory in step-4 or step-5. Expect to see the version of java that is installed. Note: The structure of the jre folder in jre_old should match the structure of the newly created jre folder. Example for Windows ------------------- jre jre/bin jre/lib jre/docs jre/properties Example for AIX -------------------- jre jre/bin jre/lib jre/docs jre/properties jre/plugin 7. Start the Control Center Engine. 8. If there are issues starting up the engine with the new jre, rename the jre to jre_new, and jre_old to jre, and restart the engine.
