Abstract

Fix 242349 fixes the failing operating system switch in the dualboot environment.

 

Description

Readme documentation for IBM Platform HPC Fix 242349 including installation-related instructions.

In a dualboot environment, the operating system switch fails when a job requiring CPU cores is submitted. The number of CPU cores requested is between 1 and the total number of CPU cores available in the cluster.

This fix resolves the issue of the operating system switch failing and successfully submits jobs that require CPU cores.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.6 x86 (64-bit)

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11.1 x86 (64-bit)

 

3.2          Hardware requirements

           Minimal hardware requirements for the master host are as follow:

    -2.5 GB of physical memory (RAM)
    -80 GB of free disk space on the first disk or the directory in which the repositories are stored 

         -the install (/depot) directory has at least 12 GB free space

         -the /var directory has at least 40 GB free space
    -At least two configured and functioning network interfaces (both configured with static IP addresses), where one connects to public network and one connects to a provision network.

 

4.   Installation and configuration

 

4.1          Installation steps

 

1.     Extract the fix tar archive on the master host:

      # tar -xvzf phpc_3.0_242349_fix.tar.gz

2.     Install the fix from the extracted directory:

      # ./patchinstall.sh apply

3.     Restart LSF daemon service and npm service:

      # service lsf_daemons restart

      # service npm restart

   

 

4.2          Uninstallation

 

1.     Uninstall the fix from the original extracted directory:

      # ./patchinstall.sh rollback

2.     Restart LSF daemon service and npm service:

      # service lsf_daemons restart

      # service npm restart
