Abstract

Fix 241088 enables IBM Power 8 technology support on nodes running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.5 for Power.

 

Description

IBM Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition 4.1.1.1 does not support IBM Power 8 technology. Applying this fix enables IBM Power 8 technology support on a management node running the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.5 for Power operating system. And multiple LPARs is supported after applying this fix.

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.5 for Power operating system must be installed on the management node.

 

4.   Installation and configuration

 

4.1          Before installation

 

Extract the fix tar archive on the management node:

         # tar xzvf pcmse_241088_fix.tar.gz

 

4.2          Installation steps

 

As a root user, from the fix directory (pcmse_241088_fix) run the patchinstall command. If high availability is enabled, complete this step on both the active and standby management node.

         # ./patchinstall.sh apply

 

4.3          After installation

 

1. For more information on how to import IBM Power 8 technology nodes, refer to Adding nodes using a node information file in the IBM Knowledge Center. Note that this fix enables a new optional parameter in the node information file that specifies the LPAR ID to support multiple LPARs.

    For example, to import IBM Power 8 technology nodes with a different LPAR specify the following in the node information file:

           __hostname__:

               cec=my_cec1

               lparid=2

2. For more information on how to configure IBM Power 8 technology nodes, refer to Configure PowerLinux 7R2 nodes in the IBM Knowledge Center.

 

4.4          Uninstallation

 

From the fix directory, run the following command:

         # ./patchinstall.sh rollback

 

Note: RPM 'ISNM-hdwr_svr-RHEL-1.2.0.0-0.ppc64' cannot be rolled back to an older version.
