Abstract
The Platform Symphony client may encounter de-serialization errors or core dump if the direct data transfer feature is enabled.
Description
The Platform Symphony client may encounter a type mismatch error between serialization and de-serialization when receiving task output in direct data transfer mode.
When the direct data transfer feature is enabled, if massive preemption happens, or the session is closed before fetching all task results, the client process may core dump.
This interim fix applies only to the following platform:
Linux x86_64,
Windows 64-bit

5. Installation and configuration
5.1 Before installation
1.
Disable all applications.
Log on to the master host as the cluster
administrator and run:
soamcontrol app
disable all
2. Backup binaries.
On Linux
Back up the following files on all Linux x86_64 hosts in cluster and
client hosts
if you want to be able to roll back the change:
$SOAM_HOME/5.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so
On Windows
Back up the following
files on all Windows 64-bit hosts
in cluster and client hosts if you want to be able to roll back the change:
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb
5.2 Installation steps
On Linux
Copy the corresponding binary to the following directory on all Linux x86_64 hosts in cluster and client hosts:
$SOAM_HOME/5.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so
On Windows
Copy the corresponding binaries to the following directory on all Windows 64-bit hosts in cluster and client hosts:
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb
5.3 After installation
Enable the application.
Log on to the master
host as the cluster administrator and run:
soamcontrol app enable appName
5.4 Uninstallation
1.
Disable all applications.
Log on to the master host as the cluster
administrator and run:
soamcontrol app
disable all
2. Restore binaries.
On Linux
Restore the following
file on all Linux x86_64 hosts
in cluster and client hosts with the backed-up files:
$SOAM_HOME/5.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so
On Windows
Restore the following
files on all Windows 64-bit hosts
in cluster and client hosts with the backed-up files:
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib
%SOAM_HOME%\5.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb
