Abstract

SSM error message enhancement for Kerberos vemkd-ssm authentication.

 

Description

When customer deploys security patch for Kerberos vemkd-ssm, by wrong settings, there is no enough information for customer to troubleshooting.

So, the enhanced SSM error message is provided for this purpose.

This fix patch applies only to the following platform:

       Linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64

5.   Installation and configuration

5.1          Before installation 

1.    Stop the app.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app disable appname

 

2.    Back up the file.

Log on to management host, and back up the following file that will be replaced by this fix:

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm.krbwrapper

> $EGO_LIBDIR/libvem.so

5.2          Installation steps 

1.      Apply the fix.

Log on to management host, and replace old files with the downloaded one in the following directory:

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm.krbwrapper

> $EGO_LIBDIR/libvem.so

 

5.3          After installation 

1.   Verify the installation

For example, run:

> ssm -V

The following is an example output:

2.    Start the app.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app enable appname

 

5.4          Uninstallation 

1.    Stop the app.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app disable appname

2.     Restore the backup file.

Log on to management host and restore the backup file for the following file:

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm

> $SOAM_HOME/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm.krbwrapper

> $EGO_LIBDIR/libvem.so 

3.    Start the app.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app enable appname
