IBM Platform Symphony 6.1.1 Interim Fix for #236243 Readme File

Abstract

VEMKD lacks a useful log message when it can not initialize security plug-in successfully.

Description

The purpose of newly added logs is to provide more useful information to help debugging. Administrators can then get useful messages that help them determine what the possible problem may be.

This fix addresses the following issue:

Add some error log message in VEMKD and plug-in for debugability.

4.   Installation and configuration

4.1        Before installation

1.     Stop the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

C:\> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

C:\> egosh service stop all

C:\> egosh ego shutdown all

4.2        Installation steps 

1.    Log on to management hosts and back up the following binary files that will be replaced by the corresponding files in this patch:

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib/libsec.so

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib/sec_ego_master.so

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/pem

2.    Log on to compute hosts and back up the following binary files that will be replaced by the corresponding files in this patch:

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/lib/libsec.so

> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/pem

3.    Apply the patch to all management and compute hosts.

4.3          After installation 

1.     Verify the installation.

C:\> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd -V
