Abstract
Symphony service “vemkd” encountered core dump when the feature "Limit the number of service instances that can run on a host" is enabled.
In Symphony 6.1.1, some new methods are introduced, which cause a wild pointer to be used by vemkd when the feature "Limit
the number of service instances that can run on a host" is set.
This fix
patch applies only to the following
platform:

5. Installation and configuration
5.1 Before
installation
1. Shut down the cluster
Log on to the master host as the cluster
administrator and run:
> source cshrc.platform
> soamcontrol app disable all
> egosh service stop all
> egosh ego shutdown all
2. Back up file
Log on to each management host, back up the following binary that will
be replaced by this patch:
> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd
5.2 Installation steps
Apply the fix patch
Log on to each management host, and replace
the old binary “vemkd” with the downloaded one in the following directory:
> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd
5.3 After installation
1. Verify the installation
>$EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

2. Start the upgraded cluster
Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:
>
source cshrc.platform
>
egosh ego start all
>
egosh user logon -u <username> -x <password>
>
soamcontrol app enable <appName>
5.4 Uninstalling
1. Stop the cluster
Log on to the master host as the cluster
administrator and run:
> source cshrc.platform
> soamcontrol app disable all
> egosh service stop all
> egosh ego shutdown all
2. Restore the backup file
Log on to each management host, and restore the backup file for the
following binary:
>
$EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd
