Abstract

When the cluster encounters problems, such as memory issues, SSM will not be able to locate the service snapshot using the specified service name. SSM can therefore send queued tasks to an unsuitable SIM, and the SIM is unable to process the task successfully. SSM resends the task to the SIM, causing an infinite loop.

Description

Ÿ When the above issue happens, it causes the following problems:

1) CPU usage is constantly high.

2) Other tasks have minimal opportunity to run; this backlogs the tasks.

3) Log messages will be printed repeatedly or endlessly, causing increased disk usage.

Ÿ The fix for this problem is to break the infinite loop, so that SSM releases the SIM resource. SSM will send the task to the new SIM for processing.

5. Installation and configuration

5.1   Before installation

       1. Disable all applications

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

C:\> soamcontrol app disable all

5.2   Installation steps

Install soam6.1.0_win-x64-230423.msp on the master host and each candidate host.

กค Interactive installation:

Download the appropriate soam6.1.0_win-x64-230423.msp package and double-click the SOAM MSP package to run the SOAM installer.

กค Silent installation:

Run the SOAM installers from the command line using the following commands:

C:\>msiexec /update <soam_package_name_path> /l*v <soam_install_log> /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

 

where:

- soam_package_name_path is the fully qualified file name of the SOAM MSP package in this release.

- soam_install_log is the log file for the SOAM upgrade.

 

For example, to update a Windows 64-bit master host, run the following commands:

C:\>msiexec /update C:\soam6.1.0_win-x64-230423.msp  /l*v updateSOAM.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

5.3   After installation

       1. Verify the installation

C:\>%SOAM_HOME%/6.1/w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk/etc/ssm -V

       2. Enable all applications

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

C:\> soamcontrol app enable <appName>

5.4   Uninstallation

       1. Disable all applications

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

C:\> soamcontrol app disable all

       2. Uninstall

Use the following command on each management host to roll back SOAM:

C:\>msiexec /uninstall <SOAM_SP_path> /package <SOAM_6.1.0.1_path> /norestart /quiet /l*v <sym_rollback_log>

where:

- SOAM_SP_path is the fully qualified file name of the SOAM MSP package in this release.

- SOAM_6.1.0.1 path is the fully qualified file name of the SOAM 6.1.0.1 msi package.

- SOAM_rollback_log is the log file for the SOAM rollback.
