Prerequisites and co-requisites

The IBM Explorer for z/OS Version 2.1.0 system requirements are listed on the IBM Explorer for z/OS System Requirements web page.
For users with CICS Explorer V5.1.1.x installed, the CICS Explorer V5.1.1.4 and IBM Explorer for z/OS V2.1.0.4 fix packs must be applied simultaneously.



Installation information

Before proceeding with the installation process, view the online version of the readme file to verify that information has not changed since the readme file was download.

Find further online install instructions within the technote, entitled "Ordering maintenance for the IBM Explorer for z/OS, IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins".

Prior to installation

It is recommended that you take a backup of the IBM Explorer for z/OS workspace before upgrading.

To find your workspace folder select "File -> Switch Workspace -> Other...". The pop up window will show you the location of the currently used workspace folder, for example "C:\Users\Admin\.zosexplorer".

To backup the IBM Explorer for z/OS Workspace, including the connection definitions, copy the workspace folder to another folder or compress it into an archive folder.

Installing

You must use IBM Installation Manager to install and update IBM Explorer for z/OS.

  1. Open the Installation Manager Preferences - Repositories page
  2. Click the Update option in the Installation Manager wizard, and follow the prompts to update IBM Explorer for z/OS and the CICS Explorer SDK if that is already installed.


Performing the necessary tasks after installation

None


Troubleshooting installation problems from the Support site

The CICS TS support site will also cover the IBM Explorer for z/OS product.


Uninstalling if necessary

To revert back to the old version of the IBM Explorer for z/OS, this can be achieved by using the Rollback function in IBM Installation Manager.
