This patch only includes bug fixes for Symphony daemon vemkd.

4.   Installation and configuration

4.1          Before installation

1.     Stop the cluster:

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

For Linux 64-bit:

> source $EGO_TOP/cshrc.platform

> egosh service stop all

> sudo egosh ego shutdown

                For Windows 64-bit:

                         C:\> egosh ego shutdown

2.    Back up the following files on all management hosts if you want to be able to roll back the change:

For Linux 64-bit: $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

For Windows 64-bit: %EGO_TOP%\1.2.8\etc\vemkd.exe and %EGO_TOP%\1.2.8\etc\vemkd.pdb

 

4.2      Installation steps

1.    Copy the binaries to the following directory on all management hosts:

For Linux 64-bit: $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

For Windows 64-bit: %EGO_TOP%\1.2.8\etc\vemkd.exe and %EGO_TOP%\1.2.8\etc\vemkd.pdb

2.    Configure environment variables in $EGO_TOP/kernel/conf/ego.conf as follow:

EGO_SKIP_BAD_ALLOCATION_RECORD=Y

 

4.3          After installation

1.    Verify the installation

Run the vemkd -V commands, you should see the following output:

For Linux 64-bit:

Platform EGO 1.2.8.0 build 226541, Dec 11 2013

               For Windows 64-bit:

                     Platform EGO 1.2.8.0 build 219499, Jul 12 2013

2.    Start the upgraded cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

For Linux 64-bit:

> source $EGO_TOP/cshrc.platform

> sudo egosh ego start

                        For Windows 64-bit:

                          C:\> egosh ego start

 

4.4          Uninstalling

1.      Stop the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

For Linux 64-bit:

> source $EGO_TOP/cshrc.platform

> egosh service stop all

> sudo egosh ego shutdown

   For Windows 64-bit:

           C:\> egosh ego shutdown

2.      Restore the following files on all management hosts with the backed-up files:

$EGO_TOP/1.2.5/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

3.      Remove the environment variable from $EGO_TOP/kernel/conf/ego.conf 

EGO_SKIP_BAD_ALLOCATION_RECORD=Y

4.      Start the cluster 

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

For Linux 64-bit:

> source $EGO_TOP/cshrc.platform

> sudo egosh ego start

                        For Windows 64-bit:

                          C:\> egosh ego start
