Download CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS plug-in fixes from the following location: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/.

The CICS CM plug-in system requirements are listed on the CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS System Requirements tab.

The CICS CM Version 5.1.0 plug-in must be installed in the CICS Explorer Version 5.1.0. Please refer to the CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS section of the CICS Explorer and CICS tools plug-ins release compatibility reference tables.

Installation information

Before proceeding with the installation process, view the online version of the readme file to verify that information has not changed since the readme file was downloaded.
Find further online installation instructions within the technote, entitled "Ordering maintenance for the IBM Explorer for z/OS, IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins".

Prior to installation

It is recommended that you take a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace before upgrading.

To find your workspace folder select "File -> Switch Workspace -> Other...". The pop up window will show you the location of the currently used workspace folder, for example "C:\Users\Admin\.cicsexplorer".

To backup the CICS Explorer Workspace, including the connection definitions, copy the workspace folder to another folder or compress it into an archive folder.

Installing

  1. Run the CICS Explorer as usual. If you intend to use the composite update site and you know that it is already available you can skip to the next step.
    1. To add the composite update site or to add the fix pack repository zip file downloaded from IBM Fix Central, select Help -> Install New Software... from the top menu.
    2. Click the Available Software Sites hyperlink.
      1. Select the Add... button.
      2. Type in a name for this update site
      3. Enter the following URL http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/htp/cics/updates/portfolio/5.1/5.1.0/ into the Location text box or Click the Archive and select the fix pack repository zip file downloaded from IBM Fix Central.
      4. Click OK
      5. Ensure the checkbox is selected against it once added.
    3. Click OK in the Preferences Dialog to return
    4. Click Cancel button or exit dialog to return.
  2. Select Help -> Check For Updates
  3. If any are available, please follow instructions in the dialogs to install.

Uninstalling if necessary

If you decide that you want to revert back to the old version of the CICS Configuration Manager for CICS Explorer, you will be able to replace the .cicsexplorer folder with the backup that you made prior to upgrading.

  • From the welcome screen, click the Tutorials icon. The icon names are displayed when you hover over them.
