Please refer to the xCAT documentation for information on xCAT and using xCAT Kits: xCAT Documentation
1. Download the xCAT Kit for IBM PE RTE fix pack and place it in any directory on your xCAT Management Node.
2. Do NOT uncompress or untar this file. The fix pack tar file is your xCAT partial kit tar file.
3. Download the corresponding PE RTE product and service level RPMs to any directory on your system. This directory does not need to be the same as the one with the partial kit tar file.
4. Install the xCAT-buildkit RPM onto your management node if it is not already installed.
5. Follow the instructions in the xCAT documentation for IBM HPC Software Kits to combine the partial kit tar file with the PE RTE RPMs to create a complete kit to use with xCAT: IBM HPC Software Kits

Description
This release media contains a partial xCAT Kit that can be used to simplify the installation of the IBM Parallel Environment (IBM PE) Runtime Edition for Linux product. This file contains information that relates to the PE RTE xCAT Kit only. For information on xCAT, xCAT Kits, and using this PE RTE kit with xCAT, please refer to the xCAT documentation: xCAT Documentation

This kit may be used for the Parallel Environment (IBM PE) Runtime Edition V1.3.0.2 and newer versions. (I.e. Use this partial kit for future versions of PE RTE until a new version of this kit becomes available.)

A partial kit is a tar file that contains everything except the actual product RPM packages. To build a complete kit you must download the kit tar file and the product packages.

Once downloaded you can add the kit to the xCAT database using the "addkit" command.

To add the RPM packages to the kit you can use the "buildkit addpkgs" subcommand.

If you are using this kit to build newer versions of PE RTE (say 1.3.0.4) you must build a new complete kit by specifying the new version when you run the " buildkit addpkgs" subcommand.

For example, if the the rpm name is " pperte-1.3.0.4-0.x86_64.rpm" then the version would be "1.3.0.4".
