Installing a PE Developer Edition update for Linux
- Download an IBM PE Developer Edition update package into any directory on your system.
- Unzip and extract the RPM image(s) from the *.tar.gz file.
- Install the IBM PE Developer Edition updates on your system using the rpm -i command.
For further installation documentation, refer to the Installing the IBM HPC Toolkit on
Linux Systems section of the
PE Developer Edition HPC Toolkit Installation and Usage Guide.

HPC Toolkit:
- Correct HPM derived metric calculation for AVX vector operations
- Various HPM plug-in fixes
- Various fixes relating to linking libmpitrace with an MPICH2 MPI app on pLinux
PE DE Workbench:
- Update to Eclipse Juno Service Release 2 (SR2, 4.2.2)
- Update to Parallel Tools Platform (PTP) 6.0.5 - includes several bug fixes including improved support for and visualization of more target machines in system monitoring views
- Support for IBM Platform LSF
IBM PE_DE 1.2.0.1 [Dec 17, 2012]
HPC Toolkit:
- Fix for seg fault when running program containing both open and open64 calls that is instrumented with mio.
- A program instrumented for OMP and MPI then launched using hpcrun now correctly produces OMP .viz output files.
- An MPI program which passes argc as 0 and argv as NULL to MPI_Init and instrumented with libmpitrace produces correct results.
- Fix for hpccount, hpmInit, hpctInst and the HPCT plugin gathering counters from a program with a large bss segment.
- Fix for encountering an SCI_Initialize error when launching a program on greater than 2000 tasks with hpcrun that was instrumented with hpm
- Fix for hpctInst failure when instrumenting a 32 bit MPI application.
- Programs instrumented with the HPC Toolkit I/O profiling and trace libraries support multiple opens and closes of the same file.
PTP:
- Update to PTP 6.0.3 along with its scalable debug manager (SDM) component
- Fix for HPC Toolkit Plugin failure in synchronized project creation wizard when the Target Name does not match the Host name.
- Fix for an intermittant blank MPI trace view when trying to open an MPI trace file by the HPC Toolkit Plugin.
- Fix 'Select MPI', 'Deselect MPI', and 'Add to HPM' menu item capability in an HPC Toolkit Plugin editor view when selecting, deselecting, or instrumenting a region of one or more lines.
- The HPC Toolkit Plugin now generates a correct .viz output file when running a 64-bit program instrumented for MIO.
