Electronic Service Agent Activation Wizard
The activation wizard will take you through the steps to activate Electronic Service Agent on your system. The activation includes specifying contact information and connectivity information to enable your system to connect to IBM support. Enter the required fields on each panel of the wizard, and click Next to proceed to the next panel.
Contact information
Enter the contact information about the person that IBM support may contact about a problem reported by
Electronic Service Agent.
- * Company name - Enter the name of the organization that owns or is responsible for this system.
- * Contact name - Enter the name of the person in your organization who is responsible for repairs and
maintenance of the system. This person may be called by the service provider with information or assistance for
a system problem. Also, parts or PTFs may be sent to this person.
- * Telephone number - Enter the telephone numbers where the contact person can be reached.
The telephone number should include the area code, exchange numbers, and extension. Telephone numbers must be between 5 and 30 characters in length.
Telephone numbers in the United States and Canada must be between 10 and 30 alpha numeric characters in length and not contain any dashes.
- * Email address - Enter the email address of the contact person.
- * Country or region - Enter the country or region where the contact person is located. If the country or region is not listed, select a neighboring country or region.
Location information
Enter the details describing the physical location of the system being monitored by the Electronic Service Agent.
- * Country or region - Enter the country or region where the system is located. If your country or region is not listed, select a neighboring country or region.
- * State or province - Enter the state or province where the system is located.
- * Postal code - Enter the mailing postal code where the system is located.
- * City - Enter the mailing city where the system is located.
- * Street address - Enter the mailing street address of the location to which you want your service provider to send parts or assistance for the problem. This should not be a post office box.
- * Building, floor, office - Enter the building, floor, and office details that identify where the system is located.
- * Telephone number - Enter the telephone number of the room where the system is located.

SMTP
Select to enable e-mail notification, and enter detailed Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server settings.
- * SMTP server IP address or host name - Enter the IP address or hostname associated with the SMTP server.
- * Server port - Enter the server port number.
- Username - Enter the user name that the SMTP server requires for authentication.
- Password - Enter the password associated with the username that the SMTP server requires for authentication.
- Verify password - Re-enter the password associated with the username that the SMTP server requires for authentication.
IBM ID
Use this panel to associate one or more existing IBM IDs with your system. You must have an existing IBM ID before associating it with your system.
This association will authorize users to view service information that was sent to IBM support by Electronic Service Agent.
In order to register for an IBM ID, associate an IBM ID with this system, or manage IBM IDs, do the following:
Connectivity
Select to allow the ESA to connect to IBM support, and then select the connection type that the system or logical partition will use to connect to IBM support.
Note: Selecting both Direct and Proxy connection types is allowed. You can specify which type of connection you want to attempt first on the Proxy panel.
The following connection types are available:
- Direct connect - Select this option to connect to IBM support using a direct connection.
- Proxy - Select this option to connect to IBM support using a proxy connection. A proxy connection requires a proxy server.
Proxy
Enter the proxy server connection details associated with the proxy connection you set up on the previous Connectivity panel:
- * Proxy IP address or hostname - Enter the IP address or host name of the proxy server.
- * Proxy port - Enter the port number of the proxy server.
Proxy destination requires HTTP basic authentication
Select to require basic authentication and provide the following details:
- Username - Enter the user name that the proxy server requires for authentication.
- Password - Enter the password associated with the username that the proxy server requires for authentication.
- Verify - Re-enter the password associated with the username that the proxy server requires for authentication.
Try using this proxy path before trying the direct connection path.
Select this option to attempt a connection through the proxy server first. If this connection fails, the ESA will attempt a direct connection to IBM.
Test
Select to have ESA test any connectivity or notification connections that you set up on the previous panels. Test results will display on the final results panel of this Wizard.
- Connectivity test - select this check-box to preform a test of the detailed information you provided on the Connectivity and Proxy panels.
- Notification test - Select this check-box to test any e-mail addresses you provided on previous panels.
Summary
Review your selections, and click Activate to activate ESA.
Results
Displays the results of your activation and any additional tests you selected to perform. Click Finish to save and close the Wizard.
Panel buttons
- Back - Click to return to the previous
panel.
- Next - Click to proceed to the next panel.
- Activate - Click to activate the ESA from the Summary panel.
- Cancel - Click to return to exit the activation Wizard without saving the changes.
- Finish - After you verify the summary information is correct, click to save your changes and close the activation Wizard.
