2.0 General information 

This subject microcode is to be used on the following SAS Adapter/controller 
types:
  

(FC EK43) PCIe3 9305-16i SAS/SATA Adapter with 16 internal ports 12Gb x8

 

2.1 Installation Time: 
 Approximately 30 minutes 
   
2.2 Machine's Affected: 

See Universal Sales Manual or other relevant documents for current listings 
of supported systems for these adapters

 

2.3 Operating System Requirements

If you are installing a new feature, ensure that you have the software that 
is required to support the new feature and that you determine whether any 
prerequisites must be met for this feature and attaching devices.  Consult the 
IBM sales manual for your system model to determine the Linux release level 
requisites to support the feature in the system.  To check for the Feature 
prerequisites, seeIBM Prerequisite website (
https://www14.software.ibm.com/support/customercare/iprt/home).

 

3.0 Determine the Current Microcode Level 

Use SAS3FLASH Version 16.00.00.03 to flash the SAS controllers.  This tool 
can be downloaded from the ?Management Software and Tools? Section at


https://www.broadcom.com/products/storage/host-bus-adapters/sas-9305-16i#downloads
  


 1) Type "sas3flash -list"
 2) The Command will produce output similar to 
 "Firmware Version               : 16.00.01.00" 

If the Firmware Version is less than 16.00.01.00 then you should update the 
microcode.

4.0 Downloading the Firmware Update Package 

Download the latest HBA Firmware 
9305_16i_Package_P16_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip from the ?Firmware?
