About this 5.2.1.5-P8CaseFoundation-FP005 fix pack

This fix pack provides software updates to the IBM Case Foundation product, which consists of Case related tools and programs. The Content Platform Engine software must be installed and configured prior to installing the Case Foundation software. The Case Foundation installer should be run on the Content Platform Engine (CPE) server as well as on any servers hosting the Case Analyzer OLAP connector or reporting projects.

Prerequisites

This fix pack requires that the following software is previously installed and configured:

• IBM Case Foundation 5.2.1.0 (GA) or 5.2.1.1-P8CaseFoundation-FP001 or 5.2.1.2-P8CaseFoundation-FP002 or 5.2.1.3-P8CaseFoundation-FP003 or 5.2.1.4-P8CaseFoundation-FP004.
• Content Platform Engine 5.2.1.5-P8CPE-FP005.

Known problems, restrictions, and solutions

• This fix pack does not have an uninstall option; be sure to back up Case Foundation and Content Platform Engine before you install this fix pack, in the event you need to roll back to your existing release level. For more information, see the FileNet P8 domain backup and recovery section in the IBM FileNet P8 Platform 5.2.1 Knowledge Center.
• The OLAP connecter is only supported on Windows. The installer will not display the OLAP connector on non-Windows platforms.

Downloading the compressed update files

1. Log on as the "cpe_install_user" user and/or a user with install permissions.
2. Download the IBM Case Foundation update file that is appropriate for your operating system, and extract its contents to a temporary location.

Installing and configuring this fix pack

You can install the IBM Case Foundation software either interactively or silently.

The following table lists the names of the IBM Case Foundation installation programs by operating system:

Installing the IBM Case Foundation updates interactively

Repeat the installation steps on all servers where IBM Case Foundation software is installed.

1. Run the installation program that is appropriate for your operating system.
2. On the Component Options dialog box select the components that you want to update.
3. When the installer completes, check for errors in the IBM Case Foundation log file: case_foundation_install_path/casefoundation_install_log_5.2.1.5.txt, where case_foundation_install_path is the location where IBM Case Foundation is installed.
   To see a summary of the installation, check the file: case_foundation_install_path/caseFoundation_install_summary.txt.

Installing the IBM Case Foundation updates silently

Repeat the installation steps on all servers with IBM Case Foundation software is installed.

1. Open the CaseFoundation_silent_install.txt file.
2. Read the Case Foundation software license, and set LICENSE_ACCEPTED = true. This setting automatically accepts the end user license agreement when the Case Foundation installation program is run. If LICENSE_ACCEPTED is not set to true, the installation program cannot continue.
3. By default, the Case Foundation installation program installs all Case foundation related software. Use the CHOSEN_INSTALL_FEATURE_LIST to edit the software to be installed for your configuration.
4. Run the installation program that is appropriate for your operating system with the “-f CaseFoundation_silent_install.txt -i silent” command-line parameters. For example, on Windows, run “5.2.1.5-P8CaseFoundation-WIN-FP005.EXE -f CaseFoundation_silent_install.txt -i silent”.
5. When the installer completes, check for errors in the IBM Case Foundation log file case_foundation_install_path/casefoundation_install_log_5.2.1.5.txt, where case_foundation_install_path is the location where IBM Case Foundation is installed.
   To see a summary of the installation, check the file: case_foundation_install_path/caseFoundation_install_summary.txt.

Removing this fix pack

This fix pack does not have an uninstall option. You can remove this fix pack by restoring a backup.
