Installing and configuring IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Fix Pack 2 Interim Fix 1

To install an IBM Case Manager interim fix, you must prepare the environment for the interim fix installation and use the installation program to install the interim fix.

Preparing the server for installation

Before you run the IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Fix Pack 2 Interim Fix 1 installation program, you must prepare your server for the installation. To prepare your server:

  1. Ensure that IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1.0 or later is installed on your system.
  2. Log on to the IBM Case Manager server. Log on as the same user who installed the existing version of IBM Case Manager; otherwise, the installation program cannot find the correct .com.zerog.registry.xml file. Ensure that this user has write access to the destination directory for your installation of IBM Case Manager.
  3. Ensure that the Case Manager configuration tool is not running.
  4. Ensure that you created backup copies of the icm_home/configure/configmgr.ini and icm_home/configure/configmgr_cl.ini files and that you save them to a location outside the icm_home directory. icm_home is the name of the IBM Case Manager installation directory.
  5. If you are using IBM Forms with IBM Case Manager, create a backup copy of the web.xml file that is in the Case Forms installation folder before you install the interim fix. For example, in a Windows environment, the default path for the installation folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\CaseManagement\configure\exploded_apps\forms\WEB-INF. When you install the interim fix, a revised version of that file is installed in the folder. After the installation is complete, replace the revised version of the web.xml file with the backup copy that you created before the installation.

Installing the interim fix

You can install the interim fix interactively by using the installation program. Alternatively, you can install the interim fix silently by adding installation values to an input file and running the installation from a command line.

If your environment is configured for high availability and if IBM Forms is used in this environment, you must run the installation on all managed nodes. If IBM Forms is not used in the high availability environment, run the installation on the server where you previously installed Case Manager and ran the configuration tool. For more information, see the IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Knowledge Center topics in the Installing and configuring in a cluster deployment or network deployment section.

Before you begin

Ensure that you meet all requirements that are mentioned in the Preparing the server for installation section.

Installing the interim fix interactively

If you want to install the interim fix interactively, use the installation program. The installation program installs the files and updates for IBM Case Manager and the Case Management configuration tool.

To install the interim fix interactively:
  1. Log on to the IBM Case Manager server. Log on as the same user who installed the existing version of IBM Case Manager; otherwise, the installation program cannot find the correct .com.zerog.registry.xml file.
  2. Navigate to the IBM Case Manager interim fix software package.
  3. Run the installation program:

Operating System Command
AIX 5.2.1.2-ICM-AIX-IF001.BIN
Linux 5.2.1.2-ICM-LINUX-IF001.BIN
Linux for System z 5.2.1.2-ICM-ZLINUX-IF001.BIN
Windows 5.2.1.2-ICM-WIN-IF001.EXE

  1. Click OK on the pages to confirm that the installation program detects required software.
  2. Review the preinstallation summary, and click Install.
  3. When the installation completes, click Next.
  4. Respond to the subsequent prompts to complete the installation.
Important: Ensure that you complete the steps in the What to do next section.

Installing the interim fix silently

If you want to install the interim fix silently, run a command in the interim fix software package that refers to parameters in an installation text file.

To install the interim fix silently:
  1. Log on to the IBM Case Manager server where you plan to install the interim fix. Log on as the same user who installed the existing version of IBM Case Manager; otherwise, the installation program will not find the correct .com.zerog.registry.xml file.
  2. Navigate to the IBM Case Manager interim fix software package.
  3. Edit the cm_silent_install.txt file to change the LICENSE_ACCEPTED value to TRUE.
  4. Run the installation program:

Operating System Command
AIX 5.2.1.2-ICM-AIX-IF001.BIN -i silent -f cm_silent_install.txt
Linux 5.2.1.2-ICM-LINUX-IF001.BIN -i silent -f cm_silent_install.txt
Linux for System z 5.2.1.2-ICM-ZLINUX-IF001.BIN -i silent -f cm_silent_install.txt
Windows 5.2.1.2-ICM-WIN-IF001.EXE -i silent -f cm_silent_install.txt

  1. When the installation completes, check for errors in the interim fix installation log. The IBM_Case_Manager_5.2.1.2-IF001_InstallLog.txt file is created in the installation directory. For example: /opt/IBM/CaseManagement/logs/IBM_Case_Manager_5.2.1.2-IF001_InstallLog.txt.
Important: Ensure that you complete the steps in the What to do next section.

What to do next

  1. Update the settings in the newly installed icm_home/configure/configmgr.ini and icm_home/configure/configmgr_cl.ini files to match the settings in the backup copies of these files.
  2. If you are using IBM Forms with IBM Case Manager and you created a backup copy of the web.xml file as described in "Preparing the server for installation", replace the new web.xml file in the Case Forms installation folder with the backup copy that you created before the installation.
  3. You must run the IBM Case Manager configuration tool and complete the configuration tasks for your environment before you can use IBM Case Manager. See “Configuring IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Fix Pack 2 Interim Fix 1” for instructions.

PJ43575 Wrong Case Details page displayed for a particular role when using a non-English locale and role name is localized.
Table 3. Fix list for IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Fix Pack 2
APAR Description
N/A Dojo library files were updated to V1.9.6.
N/A Updated Error dialog box to prevent executing scripts injected into addressability and comments features.
PJ42780 Sorting the In-basket work list causes widget to apply previously removed filter.

When the client applies either a dynamic filter or a UI filter to the work list on the In-basket at runtime, a smaller list of items is displayed. Clicking "Reset" on the In-Basket filter will retrieve the entire work list without the previously applied dynamic filter or UI filter. If the user then attempts to sort the new unfiltered work list by clicking on any of the column headers, the previously removed filter is re-applied and the smaller list of items will be displayed. The result is a sorted list with the previous filter applied. The expected behavior is the first page of the entire work list sorted, i.e. no filtering.

This only occurs with the following conditions:
  • The number of items in the In-Basket is 200 or more records. When there are less than 200 records it functions as expected.
  • The version of IBM Content Navigator (ICN) used with IBM Case Manager (ICM) is ICN 2.0.2 FP5 (2.0.2.500.091) or later. It is not an issue with the prior releases.
PJ42839 Added support to allow localized choice list values to be displayed for a task property in Timeline Visualizer.
PJ42843 Added support for localized automatic/manual Tasks names to be displayed in Timeline Visualizer.
PJ42845 ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException on AddTask with empty multi-value case property using external data service (EDS). An error is displayed in Case Manager Client UI when adding a discretionary task whose launch step exposes an empty multi-value property in a solution that is registered to use an External Data Service (EDS) even when the property is not actually mapped/modified in their EDS.
Note: The out of the box EDS sample code does not have this issue, as it handles this internally by ensuring to not passing empty arrays if they occur.
PJ42856 ICM_Operations createCaseUsingSpecifiedCaseType fails when creating a Case with a document that has a forward slash (/) in the title.
PJ42871 Using the addCommentToCurrentDocument method from ICM_Operations results in a java.lang.NullPointerException in the Content Platform Engine's pesvr_system.log file.
PJ42872 Using an In-basket filter payload for the icm.ApplyFilter event does not update fixed filter in the In-basket UI.
PJ42954 Changes to property length are not updated in solutions that are re-using the property.
PJ42973 Provide non-default context root support for Case Manager administration client and Case Manager Client.
PJ42985 When a user double-clicks on a work item from the In-basket widget, the "[FNRPE2131090081E]Lock work object failed: Work object already locked" error appears, and the user must click through it to get back to the work item.
PJ43005 For the use case where only the ID is needed from the object returned by fetchRelatedCases() method, a new and more efficient method, getFetchlessRelatedCases(), can be used to improve performance.
PJ43008 Executing code inside an event handler or component queue to get properties on a Fetchless Case instance results in FNRCA0024E.

By using component queue if you execute the getProperties() method on a Case.getFetchlessInstance() it results in error: "FNRCA0024E: API_PROPERTY_NOT_IN_CACHE: The SymbolicName property was not found in the properties collection.".

When the properties on a Fetchless Case instance are retrieved, the API tries to load the case type information by fetching class description property on the case instance folder and then get the symbolic name property on it. If this API is executed inside an event handler or in a component queue, the properties on the class description object might be empty and thus resulting in the exception about not able to find symbolic name property.
PJ43011 When using Internet Explorer 11 with Case Manager Builder, the browser might hang and become unresponsive during a logout operation.
PJ43060 When using the Shift+Tab key combination in Case Manager Client to move backwards, when the cursor gets into the date/time fields, it will not leave and there is no apparent way to move further backward without using the mouse to click out of the date/time fields.
PJ43098 Import Solution Template wizard does not initialize correctly on second attempt. Next button is disabled.
PJ43132 Applying an In-basket filter will display the error 'Your request cannot be processed' if the option to 'Allow user to show or hide work items locked by other users' is enabled on the In-basket widget. This error will appear after applying IBM Case Manager 5.2.0 Fix Pack 2 (5.2.0.2-ICM-FP002).

The application server log will have database query exceptions, such as: Exception: Database error. See chained exception ; Cannot execute statement, msecs=, SQL: <filter SQL> ... Caused by: com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlException: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-313, SQLSTATE=07001, SQLERRMC=null, DRIVER=3.64.133

PJ43142 When using Firefox browser refreshing the In-basket page may cause custom script action buttons to disappear.
PJ43162 In IBM Case Manager Builder, when saving a solution after changing the Role setting of a Role from 'Personal (Role): Show a custom view for this role' to 'Do not show common or role personal in-baskets', the following error is displayed if the "CB_Inbasket" attribute is removed from the In-basket:

A system error occurred: java.lang.NullPointerException:ICMConverter.java:1124

PJ43165 Case property names are duplicated with user specified property search in the Advance Search dialog if 'show all case properties in the user specify field' is checked.
PJ43178 When the In-basket has more than 200 items and the user sorts on the first column, all subsequent attempts to open any work item from the list results in the user getting the CIWEB1131 error.
PJ43187 The Page Designer in Case Manager Builder does not save an unmoved/unedited widget that was added by double-clicking the widget icon in the palette.
PJ43203 If the Case Details page is opened from the Work Details page, the Case Information widget does not display values that were changed on the Work Details page.
PJ43205 If you add a new file to the Content Platform Engine repository as a case attachment by dragging a local file onto the Documents tab in the Case Information widget, the file appears in the list of case attachments in the Documents tab as expected. However, if you then open the case folder in Content Engine using an administrative client such as FileNet Enterprise Manager (FEM) or Administrative Client for Content Engine (ACCE), you will see that newly added document has actually been filed twice in the case folder.
PJ43215 The Page Designer in Case Manager Builder indicates no changes to commit if the widgets on a page are only rearranged with no other changes.
PJ43217 Specifying invalid datetime pattern in Properties View Designer prevents view from loading after it is saved and closed.
PJ43218 If an appropriate editor is not registered for a multi-value property type, adding that property to the design canvas will cause the Properties View Designer to hang.
PJ43219 Unable to create a wait until or for step in a custom task when using French locale.
PJ43224 When more than 5 workflows exist in an IBM Case Manager solution, Case Manager Builder does not show any non-task workflows that were added by using Process Designer.
PJ43229 Running the Register Project Area task from the IBM Case Manager (ICM) Configuration Tool fails with a Java.lang.NullPointerExecption (NPE) error when IBM Content Navigator (ICN) is configured with any of the following repositories: Datacap, CMOD, CM8 or any CMIS repository.
PJ43230 Content Navigator might freeze during the page load when using Google Chrome or Apple Safari browsers.
PJ43238 The Finish button is disabled when running the "Create Files that List Properties and Document Types" wizard from IBM Case Manager configuration tool.
PJ43240 If you edit a properties list layout within a column layout in Properties View Designer, the properties in the property list are shown horizontally rather than vertically.
PJ43241 Using a Stored Search that spans multiple repositories doesn't work with Content List widget.
PJ43242 Adding a folder to favorites view using "Add To Favorites" a second time will not display a warning if document context menu is accessed first.
PJ43243 Sending a payload to the Case Information filter history event, to filter only comments, a TypeError (CDEWG8005) is displayed.
PJ43249 The Properties widget takes a long time to load if the view contains a large number of properties (for example, more than 400 properties).
PJ43251 Marking a task status as “Complete” from Case Manager might trigger a sequence number mismatch error and the database update request will fail with an error code of CDEWG5205.
PJ43252 Exceptions encountered by script input in the Script Adapter widget or Script actions are suppressed and discarded.
PJ43253 Unable to save multiple values in a Multi-value DateTime property.
PJ43254 The "Update the Content Platform Engine Client Connector files" task fails when TLS protocol is configured for SSL in WebSphere Application Server for Content Platform Engine.

When "Security > SSL certificate and key management > SSL configurations > NodeDefaultSSLSettings > Quality of protection (QoP) settings > Protocol=TLS" is applied in the WebSphere Application Server for the IBM FileNet P8 Content Platform Engine server, the "Update the Content Platform Engine Client Connector files" task in the Case Manager configuration tool fails.

The WebSphere Application Server log contains the following error: SSLC0008E: Unable to initialize SSL connection.
PJ43264 When "Show work item counts for all in-baskets" option is enabled, the right side drop-down menu shows incorrect work item counts.
PJ43265 Receive 'TypeError' if a work item is highlighted prior to sorting an In-Basket with more than 200 work items.
PJ43274 When using Internet Explorer 11, properties in the rightmost column of a multi-column layout have unnecessary vertical scrollbars on the right side.
PJ43275 The Refresh menu action for Case Manager In-Basket is misleading.
PJ43287 A choice list item in a multi-select dialog for the In-basket filter is not removed from the available list after it is selected.
PJ43316 Error "No document id was provided" is returned when opening a task in Process Designer if solution is created from a template.

Table 4. Fix list for IBM Case Manager Version 5.2.1 Fix Pack 1
APAR Description
PJ42305 The locked work item warning message is shown in English on Japanese locale environment.
PJ42589 When using Internet Explorer browser with Property View Designer, if a user enters a name, collection ID, or property ID for external properties, the user must refocus on the fields after typing each character.
PJ42590 In Case Manager environments with a production profile, the external document class' default instance security setting is removed, causing users to be unable to add external documents into the case folder.
PJ42595 When using the View Designer in some non-English language locales, the view becomes corrupted when any boolean setting for any object in the view is applied.
PJ42596 After deploying an upgraded solution, the values for exposed workflow fields that are not defined in a case will be set to NULL.
PJ42598 Resetting test environment does not persist database storage location (TABLESPACE) properties on the Target Object Store.
PJ42599 If Content Platform Engine uses a non-DB2 database, then external documents cannot be removed or unfiled from a case folder.

After the fix, external documents can be unfiled from a case but the proxy document will not be removed. To know more about how to manually cleanup unreferenced proxy documents visit the "Manually removing external proxy documents from IBM Case Manager" technote available at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27043684

When users click on the properties, the List Item dialog is displayed with "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. If they click on "OK", nothing happens. If they click on "Cancel", the dialog is closed. Instead, there should be only 1 button ("OK") and the dialog should close when it is clicked by the user. This happens on Summary Case, Add Case, Case Details, Work Details pages in the Case Client runtime UI.

PJ42672 Enable Case Manager Version 5.2.1 support on Mobile devices.

The 5.2.1.0-ICM-IF002 interim fix is minimum required to have Case Manager 5.2.1 on Mobile devices. This requires IBM Content Navigator 2.0.31 or later available from the Apple iTunes App Store.
