This package includes fix for HMC V8 R8.4.0 or any subsequent service packs.  You can also reference this package by PTF MH01729 and APAR MB04115.  This image can be installed on top of HMC Version 8 Release 8.4.0 (PTF MH01559) or any subsequent service packs with or without additional fixes.

Important Notes regarding PTF MH01729

• If you are currently running HMC Version 8 Release 8.4.0 (or any subsequent Service Pack/PTF), this PTF must be installed before upgrading the HMC from Version 8 Release 8.4.0 to HMC Version 8 Release 8.6.0 or Version 8 Release 8.7.0. 
  
  
• This PTF is not cumulative.

General Fix

• Fixed an issue with Group ID conflicts between OS default users and HMC defined users found after upgrading to 860 or higher. This issue impacts HMCs that were at any HMC Version 7 then upgraded to Version 8 Release 850 or lower. Symptoms include a failure during the final reboot of the upgrade.
  
  The reboot halts at an xterm prompt with the error:
  "xterm: Can't execvp/opt/ccfw/bin/framework/runAsRoot: Permission denied
  Bash 4.2$"
  
  This fix must be installed prior to upgrading to Version 8 Release 8.6.0 or Version 8 Release 8.7.0 to prevent the conflicts.
  
  

Special Install Instructions: Installing this PTF using the Enhanced+ interface may hang.  Prior to installing this PTF using the web browser graphical interface perform the following:
1.    Log in again selecting the Log In option of "Classic".
2.    If already logged in to the HMC using Enhanced GUI, log off the HMC.
3.    Install using the normal installation instructions.
Alternatively, install this PTF using the CLI updhmc command.
