This package includes fixes for HMC Version 7 Release 7.4.0. You can also reference this package by APAR MB03586. This image must be installed on top of HMC Version 7 Release 7.4.0 Recovery installation (MH01273) or Update installation (MH01274), with or without efixes.

This package provides the following new function and enhancements:

General

• Removed Daylight Saving Time from Russian Timezone.
• Fixed a problem where when the managed system supports more than 254 LPARs, and the user tries to configure a client VSCSI or VFC adapter whose server LPAR ID is greater than 254, the operation will fail with "Invalid remote lpar id specified".
• Fixed a security issue with viosvrcmd.
• Fixed a problem in which daily utilization data was not collected for servers with a large number of partitions.
• Fixed a problem in which mpio and vlanbridge values specified by the user during resumption of suspended partition is ignored.
• Fixed a problem in which an lslparutil command cannot start execution until the previous lslparutil command has completed.
• Fixed a problem where a LDAP user will not be able to login to the HMC 180 days after the first log in.
• Fixed GUI performance issues introduced in Service Pack 1. Symptoms may include: high HMC CPU use (E212E151); "Unresponsive script" errors followed by "Connectivity to the console has been lost" with forced disconnect on local logins; high CPU and memory use for remote browser sessions.
• Fixed intermittent problem with partition migration to a memory mirroring enabled server from failing with error "HSCL1446 The partition specified is not valid. Rebuild the managed system and try again".
• Fixed issue with lslparutil where every 2500th line is missing.
• Fixed a problem where a scheduled operation for NFS backup ignores the remote directory specification.
• Fixed the DVD drive part number for serviceable events on HMC models CR3 and CR4.
• Fixed a problem where performing concurrent partition migration can, in some very rare cases, cause some of the migration operations to fail with an empty error message.
• Fixed a problem with pesh command failing with error: "sh: awk: command not found".

Repair and Verify

• Fixed timing. during Power 775 BPA exchanges for a system with more than 4 CECs, the Low Power Mode messages will appear on the screen long enough for the CE to read them.
• Corrected a problem where the Exchange procedure for the PCI shuttle assembly in a 5796 or 7314 I/O expansion unit fails with the message "HSCL0273 A command that was targeted to the managed system has timed out". Normally this exchange procedure fails if the system configuration includes eight or more I/O expansions units.
• Enabled the concurrent maintenance of BPA related FRU on POWER 5 59x.
• Fixed an issue that caused the repair of the PU Book DCA in a 9119-FHA or 9119-FHB to fail with error "BPA HARDWARE INTERFACE COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED" and then forced the DCA to be replaced non-concurrently. This fix allows the BPA interface to be established and for the repair to continue concurrently.
• Fixed Battery FRU exchange identify LED exception on 9179-MHC or 9117-MMC systems.
• Corrected a problem on Initialize Frame(s) procedure where I/O Enclosures are not powered on and the managed system is not able to associate ownership with the I/O Enclosures. This problem was the result of a Service Action (FRU Exchange, FRU Add, or serviceable event Repair) leaving a BPA lock on 9999-999*9999999 held.
• Fixed incorrect instruction for BPC/BPR/BPD FRUs on Power 775.
• Fixed incorrect R&V instruction for Rear BPR FRUs on Power 775.
• Added new panels to both the BPCH and DCCA to explain that the IP address associated with the exchange needs to be updated and presented to the HMC for future service actions.
• Corrected a problem with a BPC FRU Exchange or Repair displaying the error: "An error occurred while attempting to resynchronize passwords with the BPC."
• Fixed a problem on Power 775 BPA exchange for a frame with more than 4 CECs where a failure message was always being displayed.
• Correct which covers are Removed/Installed in R&V procedures for 9117-MMC and 9179 MHC machines.

Upgrading or restoring HMC Version 7

Notes:

1. To burn the ISO image to media, you must use DVD-R media
2. The HMC Install Corrective Service task has been modified to allow corrective service installation by using the .iso packaging of the corrective service files that you can download from IBM. There is no requirement to burn CD-R or DVD-R media to use these files to install the corrective service.
   • To install the updates over the network, select the .iso file in the Select Service Package panel of the Install Corrective Service utility.
   • To use USB flash media to install updates, copy the .iso file to the flash media, and then select the file when prompted.
3. The updhmc command line command has also been modified to use the .iso file for installing corrective service updates. To use the command, follow the syntax in this example:
   updhmc -t s -h <myservername> -f </home/updates/corrrective_service.iso> -u <HMC_username> -i

In all cases, the HMC application extracts the files needed to install the corrective service.
