The Network Management Summary page in IBM® Systems Director provides an overview of your network devices.
Introduction
Use this page to view status and usage of network devices
in your environment, to link to network management tasks, or to find
more information about your network environment.
Network Management is part of IBM Systems Director. It provides basic network A separate product, IBM Systems
Director Network Control 1.1, provides advanced network management functions for network devices, including discovery, inventory, health and status monitoring, and configuration of network devices and network topology. When you download, install, and begin using IBM Systems
Director Network Control, you are granted an evaluation license. Once the evaluation license expires, you must purchase a license in order to continue using the optional management function. For more information about IBM Systems

Fields
- Status
- Status chart
- A pie chart represents the status of your network devices. To
see your resources based on status, click one of the links in the
list or its corresponding section in the pie chart.
There are four
status categories, represented by icons:

- Critical

- Warning

- Informational

- OK
- Devices with no inventory collected
- Number of discovered network devices for
which inventory has not been collected. Click to open a table
view.
- Common tasks
Displays some of the most common network management
tasks. You can select a task name to get started toward your goal.
- System discovery
- Use the system discovery task to identify
systems at a specific network address or range of addresses.
- Advanced system discovery
- Use advanced system discovery to identify
and manage a specific type of resource. Advanced system discovery
is helpful when you want to limit your discovery using criteria that
you specify.
- Manage
Select a group of devices to manage.
- Fibre Channel over Ethernet switches
- Displays all discovered switches that
have Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) forwarder functions. Click
to open a table view.
- Ethernet switches
- Displays all discovered Ethernet switches
except FCoE switches. Click to open a table view.
- Common tasks
Displays some of the most common network management
tasks. You can select a task name to get started toward your goal.
- Monitors
- Open the Monitors page. Retrieve
the real-time status and quantitative data for specific properties
and attributes of systems.
- Thresholds
- Open the Thresholds page. View and
manage performance thresholds for systems.
- Event Log
- Open the Event log page. All events
for managed network systems are displayed.
- Automation Plans
- Open the Automation plans page.
Use event automation plans to automate tasks based on received events.
- Configure and Automate
- Deployed Ethernet network templates
- Indicates number of Ethernet-type templates
deployed in your environment. Click to open a table view.
- Deployed Ethernet network plans
- View plans configuration plans with Ethernet
templates deployed in your environment.
- Common tasks
Displays some of the most common network
configuration and automation tasks. You can select a task name to
get started toward your goal.
- View and apply Ethernet network templates
- Click to view and work with all Ethernet
configuration templates.
- View and apply Ethernet network plans
- Click to view and work with all plans
that contain an Ethernet template.
