If you acquired the files using Update Manager, the update has already been imported. To import the update from the command-line, use the following command: smcli importupd -vr To import the update from the IBM Systems Director Web interface, perform these steps: 1. In navigation area, expand Release Management and click Updates. The Update Summary page displays. 2. In the Common Tasks section, click Import updates. The Import Updates page is displayed. 3. Type the directory of the update files on the management server in the Path field. All updates in the specified directory will be copied to the update library. You cannot select specific updates from this directory. 4. Click OK. The scheduler is displayed. Choose to run the task now or schedule it to run in the future. ====================================================================== Install To install the update from the command-line, use the following command: smcli installupd -v [-n | -N ] -u com.ibm.director.core.manager_6.1.0.2 To install the update from the IBM Systems Director Web interface, perform these steps: 1. In navigation area, expand Release Management and click Updates. The Update Summary page displays. 2. In the Common Tasks section, click Install updates. The Install Wizard is displayed. 3. Follow the steps in the Install Wizard to install the update. ====================================================================== Perform the necessary tasks after install After installation is completed, IBM Systems Director server must be stopped and restarted in order for this patch to be enabled. Certain features of this patch only become operational if the IBM Systems Director BladeCenter and System x Management Version 6.1.0.2 have been installed (see What's New in Patch 6.1.0.1). Without those updates installed, the Service and Support Manager will function as before. ====================================================================== Troubleshooting the installation For information about troubleshooting problems you encounter during installation, see the IBM Systems Director information center on the Web at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/index.jsp?topic=/director_6.1/fqm0_main.html ====================================================================== Uninstalling This patch cannot be uninstalled from the IBM Systems Director Web interface. If the patch needs to be removed, contact IBM support. ====================================================================== Known problems 1. On some systems running SuSE Linux 10, automatic extended error data collection using DSA could fail. In this case, regular Director Inventory will be collected and sent to IBM instead of DSA data. This could result in several DSA processes being created on affected systems. These processes can safely be terminated with the Linux kill command. 2. IBM Director may occasionally report false fan failures under Hardware Status. These errors appear similar to the following: Message: Fan Sensor 3 fell below threshold of 550 rpm. The current value is 550 rpm. This is a false alert and the message may be disregarded. A fix may be available in the latest version of the BMC firmware. Check the IBM System x Support web site at the following URL: http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/ More information about the issue is available at https://www-304.ibm.com/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5077441&brandind=5000008 3.
