MSM is a GUI application that runs in the Windows environment. 1.2 Limitations - None 1.3 Problems fixed: - See change history 1.4 Level of Recommendations and Prerequisites for the update: - If using any of the following, the LSI Logic MPT Windows device driver (Miniport or Storport) must be installed and loaded before MSM will function correctly. Additionally, in the absence of the LSI Pseudo Device Driver, the controller must have at least one drive attached for the utility to be able to recognize the controller. This is due to a restriction of the Windows driver. - Onboard LSI 1064/1064e/1068/1078 - IBM SAS HBA/3Gb SAS HBA v2 - IBM SAS Expansion Card (CFFv)/SAS Connectivity Card (CFFv) - IBM SAS/SATA RAID Kits - IBM ServeRAID BR10 Series Controllers - If using any of the following, the LSI MegaRAID driver must be installed and loaded before MSM will function correctly: - IBM ServeRAID MR10 Series Controllers - IBM ServeRAID M1000 or M5000 Series Controllers 1.5 Dependencies: - None 1.6 Update Contents o ibm_sw_msm_12.05.03.00_windows_32-64.zip - Zipped installation package o ibm_sw_msm_12.05.03.00_windows_32-64.chg - Change history 2.0 Installation and setup instructions ________________________________________ Installation ------------ The installer provides the user with four setup options: - Complete: This option will install all program features. - Client: This option will only install components required to remotely view and configure servers. - Server: This option will only install components required for remote server management. - StandAlone: This option will only install components required for local server management. This installation kit can be used in either interactive or non-interactive mode. To install the application in interactive mode, execute the command: Extract the contents of the ZIP file and run Setup.exe from the Disk1 folder. If JRE is not already installed, the setup program will install the appropriate version and reboot. If you do not see the choices in #2, the program has determined you have a client only system with no LSI(R) SAS RAID controller installed or MSM was installed over a previous version and kept the same mode. If a security warning about "popup" appears, click "allow" if you wish to receive alerts. By default all Fatal and Critical events will be displayed by Popup. However, user can optionally add Popup for other types of events using Monitor Configurator. Windows 2000 note: Authentication requires the admin privilege setting. To enable, go to Program --> Administrative Tool --> Local Security Settings. Assign the policy "Act as part of operating System" to user (Administrator / Everyone). To start the utility, go to Start>Programs>MegaRAID Storage Manager and choose StartupUI. You will be notified if no supported RAID controllers are found. To install the product in non-interactive, scripted mode, execute the command: Setup.exe /s /v"/qn SETUPTYPE= where setuptype may be StandAlone, Client or Server. The SNMP Trap can be disabled either by using custom setup or by using TRAPIND="N" as an msiexec parameter. Uninstallation -------------- MSM can be uninstalled using "MegaRAID Storage Manager/Uninstall" from the Start Menu. MSM can also be removed using the native Add/Remove Programs utility. SNMP Agent Configuration ------------------------ NOTE : Before you install the agent, make sure that SNMP Service is already installed on the system. To install SNMP Service: 1. Select Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel. 2. Select "Add/Remove Windows components" in the left side of the "Add/Remove Programs" window. 3. Select "Management and Monitoring Tools" and click Next. 4. Insert the Windows installation CD when prompted. To Configure the SNMP Service on the server side: 1. Select "Administrative Tools" from the Control Panel. 2. Select "Services" in the "Administrative Tools" window. 3. Select "SNMP Services" in the "Services" window. 4. Open SNMP Services. 5. Go to the "Security" tab and make sure that "Accept SNMP Packets from any host" is selected. 6. Go to the "Traps" tab and verify the list of host IPs to which you want the traps to be sent. To use the SNMP Agent: 1. Use the SNMP Manager to retrieve the data. NOTE: It is assumed that you have already compiled mib files. The mib files are available at the same location as setup.exe. 2. Use the Trap utility to get the traps. 3.0 Usage information ______________________ Detailed usage information can be found in the ServeRAID M Series or MR Series Software User's Guide. 4.0 Unattended Mode ____________________ This is a user interface application, and therefore cannot be used in unattended mode.
