Note: Before using this information and the product it supports, read the general information in "Notices and trademarks” in this document. 1.0 Overview This file is intended for network administrators responsible for upgrading the firmware for the Cisco Catalyst Switch for IBM BladeCenter. 1.2 Limitations For a summary of features, supplemental information and known issues associated with this release, please refer to the "Cisco Catalyst Switch for IBM BladeCenter Release Notes", available via web sites indicated in section 5.0 Web information and support phone numbers. 1.3 Level recommendation and prerequisites for the update None. 1.4 Dependencies The Advanced Management Module code level BPET36H or BBET36H or later is required. 2.0 Installation and setup instructions The Cisco Catalyst Switch for IBM BladeCenter firmware ships with the firmware pre-installed. However, new versions of firmware are periodically released and can be used to update the features and function of the module. 2.1 Instructions for updating firmware The I/O module firmware is upgraded through a TFTP application or Cisco's Device Manager Web Graphical User Interface. Accessing and configuring the switch for the Web GUI, Telnet, and TFTP applications can be found in the Cisco Catalyst Switch Module 3110G, 3110X, and 3012 for IBM BladeCenter Getting Started Guide. 2.1.2 TFTP updates Access the switch from a Telnet session or the serial cable If prompted input the password to the switch Enter 'enable' for administrator access and if prompted input the password Enter 'archive download-sw tftp:///' is the IP address of the server containing the firmware image as previously noted. is the firmware image you just downloaded from the web site.
