LTFS online user's guide Please refer to the online user's guide, LTFS Customer Information Center, before installing LTFS on your system. System Requirements: Please consult with IBM System Storage Interoperation Center (SSIC) about the connectivity and supported configurations, or the LTFS support matrix document in the package. LTFE Tools installer package on Mac OS X system 3.1 Installing the binary files This program installs binary files that can be used to install LTFS Tools to your system. Note: The installation requires administrative privilege. a) Extract the LTFS Tools installer zip file on the system by double-clicking the zip file ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.OSX10.5.zip for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.OSX10.6.zip for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on the browser or launching it on a terminal by issuing the following command: $ open ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.OSX10.5.zip or $ open ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.OSX10.6.zip An application folder ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.app is extracted on the folder. b) Run the LTFS Tools installer application on the system by double-clicking the application folder ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801 on the browser or launching it on a terminal by issuing the following command: $ open ltfs-tools-1.1.1.0-801.app c) If non administrative user runs the installer application, the "IBM_LTFS_Tools requires that you type your password." window pops up. Enter an administrative user name and password to proceed the installation. d) Click Next when the Introduction window displays to open a Software License Agreement window. e) After reading the agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next to display a Choose Install Folder window. f) Specify a folder from which to install the binary files in the Where Would You Like to Install? field. Note: The install folder is set to IBM_LTFS_Tools in the folder Applications on the disk by default. g) Click Choose to display a browser, and then select the install folder if you want to modify the folder using a browser. (This step is optional.) h) Then click Next to display a Choose Alias Folder window. Note: You can create the following alias on your Applications folder by default: - An alias to the executable application to uninstall the LTFS Tools i) When asked "Where would you like to create aliases?" select from one of the following options: - In the Dock - On the Desktop - In your home folder - Other - Don't create aliases Note: To create alias on the other folder, select Other and specify a folder to create. By clicking Choose, a browser displays and you can select the install folder. If you do not want to create alias, select "Don't create aliases." j) Click Next to display the Pre-Installation Summary window. k) After reviewing the information, click Install to start installing the binary files. When the installation is complete, the Install Complete window opens. l) Click Done to close the window. m) Open the install folder to locate the binary files. n) There are INSTALL and README files in the install folder. Read them carefully to learn how to install or uninstall binary files for LTFS Tools to your system. 3.2 Removing LTFS Tools install package This process removes the binary packages and installer programs. a) Double-click the "Change IBM_LTFS_Tools Installation" alias on the install folder. Note: If you have created alias by default, an alias has been created on the Applications folder under your home directory. If you have created alias on another folder, open the folder and find the alias. If you have not created any alias, open the install folder and the _IBM_LTFS_Tools_installation folder and double-click Change IBM_LTFS_Tools Installation. b) If non administrative user runs the installer application, the "IBM_LTFS_Tools requires that you type your password." window pops up. Enter an administrative user name and password to proceed the installation. c) Click Next to open the Uninstall Options window when the Uninstall IBM LTFS Tools window displays. d) Select Complete Uninstall, and then click Next to run the uninstall program. The Uninstall Complete window displays when all items are successfully removed. e) Click Done to close the window.
